Bike Around the Bay Celebrates 20th Anniversary, Raises More Than $625,000 for Galveston Bay Foundation

Annual cycling event marks two decades of bringing riders together to protect and preserve Galveston Bay
GALVESTON, Texas (October 19, 2026) — Galveston Bay Foundation (GBF) celebrated the 20th anniversary of Bike Around the Bay this weekend, bringing cyclists together for a memorable ride in beautiful weather while raising more than $625,000 to support the Foundation’s mission to preserve and enhance Galveston Bay as a healthy and productive place for generations to come.
For two decades, Bike Around the Bay has united cyclists, volunteers, corporate partners, and community members around a shared commitment to protecting the Bay and the wildlife and communities that depend on it. Funds raised through the annual ride support GBF’s conservation efforts across the watershed, including habitat restoration, water protection, land conservation, environmental education, advocacy, and research.
The event’s 20th anniversary was made possible by the dedication of participating cyclists, volunteers and sponsors whose support continues to fuel GBF’s work to protect Galveston Bay for future generations.
“Celebrating 20 years of Bike Around the Bay is pretty incredible. Over the years, riders have come out for their first ride, made it an annual tradition, or joined us somewhere in between, all with a shared goal of supporting Galveston Bay. Our riders, volunteers, and sponsors make this event possible. I’m thankful to be part of an event that has brought so many people together for Galveston Bay, and I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish in the years ahead,” said Greg Loushine, Bike Around the Bay Ride Director.
Galveston Bay Foundation extends its sincere thanks to all the sponsors who helped make the 20th anniversary ride a success.
LyondellBasell returned as the event’s Presenting Sponsor, continuing its longstanding support of Bike Around the Bay and GBF’s mission. Memorial Hermann served as the Official Health Care Sponsor, while Austin Industries served as the Official Logistics Sponsor and Saint Arnold Brewing Company as the Official Beer Sponsor.
GBF also recognizes its valued sponsors who made the event possible — The Moody Foundation, Corda Investment Management, Indian Doctors Association, Transocean, Green Mountain Energy, Kuraray, Sun & Ski Sports, Cypressbrook Company, Madrigal, Odfjell, Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia,. Sprint Transport, Primal, Trek, Katoen Natie, Cobb Fendley, and Dole.
As Bike Around the Bay celebrates 20 years, the milestone reflects the power of community-driven conservation and the people who continue to show up for Galveston Bay. With more than $625,000 raised this year, the event will help advance GBF’s work to protect the Bay’s natural resources and ensure a healthier future for the region.
