Veronica Mata Bernal

Environmental Educator

Veronica joined Galveston Bay Foundation in August 2025 as a Part-Time Environmental Educator. She graduated from the University of Houston-Clear Lake with a bachelor's in environmental science-biology specialization. Before joining GBF, she worked at The Environmental Institute of Houston as part of her practicum where she performed bird collision surveys and prairie conservation work, spent a summer working as an intern at Houston Arboretum and Nature Center doing research over an invasive plant species, deep rooted sedge, in their savanna, afterwards worked at True Cross Catholic School as a teacher-aid where she gained experience working with elementary students and grew to treasure what a teacher can be. Veronica’s joy of working at GBF is being able to work outdoors and seeing students grow more comfortable and in awe with nature.
